The Sikh Lahvaan (download) (view online)
The marriage depicted in the Gurdwaras of the world are dishonorable to The Guru, the Sikh community or Panth and the couple who are seated before The Guru. When you are prevented, stopped and forced by the controlling religious sikh organizations to ‘not speak these Lahvaan when getting married, it automatically has prevented the sikh bride & groom from stating to The Guru present that your ‘silence in not reading the Lahvaan yourselves’ is neither ‘an acceptance nor a rejection’ of The Guru’s proposal before you both to marry. If the preacher (granthi or gyani) has said those ‘Lahvaan’, then he has got married, not the couple. If his read Lahvaan are accepted, then the whole Sangat who are also present in witness before The Guru have also got married, hearing the preacher (granthi or gyani). Madness indeed…
Here in Gurdwara Har Mandir Istri Sahib (GHMIS), the couple must speak the Lahvaan themselves, take the ‘Hukamnama’ after completing the four rounds, per the Lahvaan.
Divorce
The Sikh Lahvaan make for a marriage of any Sikh, but there is no process, procedure, ritual, ceremony or consecration given in the Guru Granth Sahib for any Divorce. That is a man made process, has absolutely Nothing with a Sikh getting divorced. A Sikh sacrifices his head to The Guru and cannot go against The Guru Granth Sahib. As nothing formal, informal or certified in spiritual law exists in the Guru Granth Granth Sahib for a Sikh to divorce then their own ‘Manmat’ or mind’s decision are theirs alone, its not permissible or acceptable to The Guru.
